Department of History, Philosophy, and Geography

Welcome to the Department of History, Philosophy, and Geography, where you can learn more about our innovative programs, meet our community of dedicated teacher-scholars and staff, and hear from our alumni. Our department supports two academic degree majors as well as three minors, including traditional and interdisciplinary programs,  two secondary teacher certification programs, and a variety of courses supporting majors across the entire university.

The department’s broader objectives include the development of our students’ academic and professional skills through formal teaching by outstanding faculty at all levels of the curriculum; training students in the skills of research, analytical reasoning, and effective communication; and contributing, through faculty and student research, and cooperative partnerships,  to the university’s mission to enrich the economic and social development of the community and region.

We’re delighted that you are taking the time to learn more about us and our programs.
