History Club

Founded in September 2008, the History Club at A&M-SA has as its mission the promotion of historical knowledge among the campus community and broader public. Since 2012, the History Club has been affiliated with the Walter Prescott Webb Society of the Texas State Historical Association which unites student history clubs across college and university campuses in Texas.

The History Club has brought speakers to campus, participated in campus activities such as Fall Fest, traveled to local historic sites, and conducted service activities such as a school supply drive for a local elementary school.

Phi Alpha Theta

In April 2012, A&M-SA held its inaugural induction ceremony for the campus chapter of Phi Alpha Theta, the National History Honors Society. The campus chapter has brought several speakers to campus and plans to continue to recruit new members.  The membership requirements for Phi Alpha Theta include a 3.0 or higher overall GPA, a 3.1 or higher GPA within history courses, and completion of twelve hours of history credits, only three of which may be transfer, online or AP credits.  Members of Phi Alpha Theta do not have to be history majors.
