Why events matter.

The Office of First Year Experience holds many events around the year to brighten up the campus experience for students. College life can be stressful and full of work for students to do, so it's important for everyone to get a chance to relax and enjoy themselves.

About HIIT Study Sessions

The purpose of these sessions is to give students a proper work environment to help them study for upcoming exams. Peer Leaders will be there to help assist students with their studying, and will even provide students with snacks. These session will be held at multiple dates throughout the year, so if you are interested in getting quality studying done or just looking for some tutoring feel free to look into which date works for you.

Things to do in San Antonio

The Alamo

You kind of can’t visit the city and not visit the Alamo. It’s one of the best things to do in San Antonio that’s totally iconic. Not only that, it’s one of the most important historical sites in the United States and protected as such. You see, way back when, the Battle of the Alamo was played out here – back in 1836.

Central Market Cooking School

Learn how to cook or improve your culinary skills with a cooking class at the Central Market Cooking School. Based at one of the many Central Market locations across Texas, including San Antonio, guests can choose from a range of cooking classes offered.

FA Japanese Tea Gardens

Japanese Tea Gardens

Originally a rock quarry, part of the tea garden came from a donation by George W. Brackenridge and another section from Emma Koehler. In 1915 Ray Lambert, city parks commissioner, thought it would make a nice location for a lily pond.

Natural Bridge Caverns

The Natural Bridge Caverns are home to the biggest commercial cave system in Texas. Above-ground adventures include zip lining, a rope course, a maze, gem mining, shopping and dining. But the primary reason to visit the caverns is to partake in one of the five underground tour options, which include tours lit by only lanterns and others that explore the caverns' hidden passages.

The Riverwalk

Sightseeing, shopping, food, and fun. All on a world-renowned 15-mile urban waterway. The River Walk, or Paseo del Rio, is a San Antonio treasure and the largest urban ecosystem in the nation. Tucked quietly below street level and only steps away from the Alamo, it provides a serene and pleasant way to navigate the city.

FA Museum of Art

San Antonio Museum of Art

Although it may not be as large as other art museums, the San Antonio Museum of Art is a cultural gem that's not to be missed. It hosts top-notch collections of Native American, Spanish colonial and Latin American art. What's more, the museum is also home to the largest collection of Asian art in Texas, not to mention a respectable grouping of more contemporary pieces.

San Antonio Zoo

Get up close to majestic tigers, playful gibbons, lazy hippos, and other fascinating creatures at the San Antonio Zoo. Home to thousands of exotic animals, the zoo is a guaranteed hit with people of all ages. You have the opportunity to feed a giraffe and watch zookeepers going about their daily tasks. The zoo also provides an educational experience where you can learn about animal habits and wildlife conservation.

Six Flags Fiesta Texas

Located about 17 miles northwest of downtown San Antonio, Six Flags Fiesta Texas is a year-round destination for families and adrenalin seeking travelers. The park's more than 50 attractions run the gamut from coasters to slides to pools to go-karts. With shopping options and an assortment of restaurants to boot, it's not hard to spend an entire day (or three) at Six Flags Fiesta Texas.
