What is Clinical Teaching?

  • Clinical Teaching is the capstone of candidates' education training.
  • The Educator CAFÉ works with local districts to place candidates with an accomplished educator who has a minimum of 3-years teaching experience.
  • Clinical Teaching is a full-time, 16-week commitment. Candidates must adhere to the schedule that the district requires of contracted teachers.
  • Candidates will slowly take over each subject/class period until they are spending the entire day teaching. They will participate in “full-teach” for a minimum of three weeks before slowly returning the subjects/class periods back to the cooperating teacher.
  • Students can apply to complete clinical teaching in a Teacher Residency Program. Candidates participating in the Teacher Residency Program are hired and paid by a district to complete a full year of clinical teaching.
