Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) is here to support your research and teaching that involve microbes, pathogens, rDNA and RNA toxins. The IBC is an independent review body composed of peer experts from the institution.

All research and teaching using Biological molecules, microbes, pathogens, rDNA and RNA toxins must be reviewed and approved by IBC before beginning. 

Recombinant DNA (and RNA) including the creation or use of transgenic plants and animals;
Select agents and toxins including strains and amounts exempted from the select agent regulations;

Before starting a research or teaching project with rDNA or biohazardous materials, you MUST register with the Institutional Biosafety Committee.

How to Register with the IBC

• Contact the Research Compliance Coordinator (RCC) or Director of Research Compliance (DRC) at ibc@tamusa.edu
• Submit the FORM
• Respond promptly to comments/feedback from the IBC
• Start work after approval letter is received
