VA education benefits help Veterans, service members, and their qualified family members with needs like paying college tuition, finding the right school or training program, and getting career counseling. Below are all VA Federal Benefits that are accepted at A&M-SA.

• 30 - Chapter 30 - Montgomery GI Bill®
• 31 - Veterans Readiness and Employment (VR&E)
• 33 - Post 9/11 GI Bill®
• 35 - Dependent Educational Assistance Program
• 1606 - Montgomery GI Bill® - Select Reserve

The Hazlewood Act is a State of Texas benefit that provides qualified Veterans, spouses, and dependent children with an education benefit of up to 150 hours of tuition exemption, including most fee charges, at public institutions of higher education in Texas. This does NOT include living expenses, books, or supply fees. To learn more about this benefit, visit the Hazlewood state webpage at TVC.Texas.gov.

The Department of Defense (DOD) Federal Tuition Assistance Program (TA) provides financial assistance to service members for education programs. TA is available for courses offered in the classroom or by distance learning as long as they are part of an approved academic degree program.

Tuition assistance will not cover the following expenses:

• Books and course materials

• Flight training fees

• Taking the same course twice

• Continuing education units, or CEUs
