The Outstanding Senior Recognition honors graduating or graduated seniors who have made significant contributions to Texas A&M University-San Antonio through academic achievement, campus leadership, involvement, community service, honors, and awards. To be considered, a student must first be nominated by a faculty, staff, student, or alumnus. The Outstanding Senior Award Committee reviews applications from the nominated students, and a select few are invited for interviews with the committee; ultimately, the committee selects the outstanding seniors.

The committee then reviews those selected as Outstanding Seniors, and two individuals from among all the Outstanding Seniors are named our Seniors of Distinction. The Seniors of Distinction are given a monetary award and the prized Senior of Distinction Medal.
