Veterans Week celebration, running Nov. 8-12, 2021. This annual event features a week of programming that educates and celebrates the experiences and sacrifices of those who have served our country.
This holiday started as a day to reflect upon the heroism of those who died in our country's service and was initially called Armistice Day. When first celebrated, the day marked the end of World War I, formally recognized on the “11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month” in 1918. The holiday was changed to "Veterans Day" to account for all veterans in all wars. Today, we celebrate the day as Veterans Day, still recognizing the original tie with November 11.
With over 1,000 military-affiliated students enrolled in Fall 2021, The Office of Military Affairs continually organizes programming and resources for Jaguars. This month they partner with the VA for a clinic on Nov. 6, 9 am- 4 pm in Ceremony Room, providing the Moderna booster and Flu shots, spaces limited. They will also have the following events during Veterans Week.
