In accordance with HB2504, Texas A&M San Antonio is required to make course information publicly accessible. The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) developed rules that require universities post certain undergraduate courses that are offered for credit on a publicly accessed website. According to THECB guidelines, the following information is required to be made public:

1. Course Syllabus – must include the course description, objectives, major assignments, exams and any required assigned reading materials
2. Faculty Curriculum Vitae – must include degrees earned, any professional publications, research work
3. Course Evaluation – each undergraduate course should be evaluated by students at the end of the course
4. Budget Report PDF - If available, a departmental budget report from the most recent semester or other academic terms during which the institution offered the course.

Undergraduate Courses

The State Coordinating Board defines undergraduate courses as:

1. Any lower or upper-division credit course offered to five or more students
2. Including on-campus, off-campus, distance education, and dual-credit courses (including those taught on high school campuses)
3. It excludes courses with highly variable subject content that are tailored specifically to individual students, such as Independent Study and Directed Reading courses
4. It excludes laboratory, practicum, or discussion sections that are intrinsic and required parts of larger lecture courses and are directly supervised by the same instructor(s) of record for those large courses

Graduate Courses

The rule does not require graduate courses to be listed in the course information system, however, the Provost’s office has mandated uniformity by requiring ALL credit courses offered at Texas A&M San Antonio be listed in the public course information system.

Deadlines

Course Syllabi and CV are due in each department the first day of class. All faculty CV and course syllabi must be uploaded to the course information system (HB2504) no later than seven days after the first day of class for each semester (Spring, Summer 1 and 2, Fall).

Syllabus Requirements

The Coordinating Board mandates that a syllabus should be a document describing the course that satisfies any standards for syllabi adopted by the institution. The document shall include, at a minimum, the following:

1. Brief description of each major course requirement, including each major assignment and examination
2. The learning objectives for the course
3. A general description of the subject matter of each lecture or discussion
4. Lists of any required or recommended readings
   
   

Curriculum Vitae Requirements

The Texas Coordinating Board states that the CV should contain a summary of instructor’s professional career and credentials, including at least the following:

1. All institutions of higher education attended, with the degree(s) earned
2. All previous teaching positions, including the names of the institutions, the position, beginning and ending dates; and
3. A list of significant professional publications relevant to the academic positions held, including full citation data for each entry
4. The curriculum vitae may include the instructor’s professional contact information, such as office telephone number, work address, and institutional email address. Vitae are not required to include personal information about the instructor, such as the home address or personal telephone number
