Mission
Texas A&M University-San Antonio’s Model United Nations team (A&M-SA - MUN) was developed as an experiential learning program and a powerful teaching tool in changing the mindset of students from viewing the world as an individual to their role as a global citizens. Our mission is to enhance the traditional classroom setting by allowing students the opportunity to analyze real-world scenarios critically. Acting as delegates, students use teamwork and problem-solving skills to cooperate and negotiate resolutions in a way that bridges the gap between theory and practice. Students gain firsthand experience and, in this way, can retain substantially more classroom concepts.

Who should join A&M-SA - MUN?
A&M-SA - MUN is a co-curricular program that uses experiential learning and simulations to help our students develop a deeper understanding of and appreciation for current world problems. It is open to all majors and minors. It is designed for students interested in globalization and international politics who want to understand their role in a global environment, make changes, and network with students from various institutions around the globe. Additionally, Model United Nations programs target students who want to work closely with their peers to gain a deeper understanding of international relations and international business or want to become more involved in the campus community and immerse themselves in academics in a non-traditional way. A&M-SA - MUN provides an exciting and motivational experience for students to learn from each other and complement traditional learning environments by providing a platform for students to internalize and reinforce material delivered in the classroom.

Experiences
In 2018, our ten original members participated in the first annual Javalina Model United Nations Conference in Kingsville, Texas. In its very first Model UN competition, the team won three awards: Most Immersive (Tabitha Suarez), Most Supportive (Karl Mitchell), and Most Knowledgeable (John Suk).
