SoccerA&M-San Antonio men's and women's soccer teams earned spots in the RRAC tournament, a first in University history

SAN ANTONIO —Texas A&M University-San Antonio (A&M-San Antonio) men’s and women’s soccer teams made history on October 29. The women’s team fought to a 0-0 draw against Our Lady of the Lake University, earning a spot in the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) Soccer Tournament. The achievement is historical as this is just the second year the program was able to compete in post-season play. The men's soccer team, who defeated Our Lady of the Lake 4-0, also made the RRAC Soccer Tournament in just their second year of being eligible to compete in the playoffs.

“This is a momentous and historic day for our University and Athletics Department,” said Director of Athletics & Rec Sports Darnell Smith. “I believe in building champions at A&M-San Antonio and our teams have proven that we are on track to do that. Great things are happening and on the horizon for our soccer programs! Go Jags!”

The women's team finished the regular season in sixth place and now will head to Louisiana State University of Alexandria (LSUA) on November 5 to take on the No. 3 seeded Generals at 1 p.m. The men’s team, who earned a fourth-place finish in the RRAC regular season standings, will host the No. 5 seeded LSUA Generals at the A&M-San Antonio soccer field on November 5 at 1 p.m.

Both men’s and women’s soccer programs at A&M-San Antonio began in 2021. The women finished the regular season with a record of (9-3-3, 6-3-2 RRAC). In 2021, they finished the season with a (3-8-2, 3-6-2 RRAC) record.
