TAMU-SA hosts two U.S. Congressmen for small business discussion

U.S. Rep. Steny Hoyer, the Democratic whip in the House, and U.S. Rep. Pete Gallego held a news conference and Small Business Roundtable at Texas A&M-San Antonio's Main Campus on Nov. 25 to promote the "Make It in America" plan for manufacturing incentives. Chairman of San Antonio Water System and CEO of Avanzar Interior Technologies GP, Heriberto "Berto" Guerra, along with representatives from Toyota, Workforce Solutions Alamo, BBVA Compass, Brooks Development Authority, San Antonio Lighthouse for the Blind, H-E-B and Holt Cat participated in the discussion, which began after the congressmen toured the neighboring Toyota Motor Manufacturing Texas plant. Accounting professor offers opinion on ancient math in modern schools

Dr. Dennis Elam, assistant professor of accounting and noted blogger, voiced his reaction to the State Board of Education's recent decision to make Algebra II exclusive to graduating high school students specializing in math, science, and technology. University Police officers join the SWAT elite

In keeping with A&M-San Antonio's commitment to provide a safe and secure environment for all members of the University community, University Police Department Corporal Gerardo Duran and Officer Christopher Charo successfully completed an intensive six-day Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) training program. The officers were able to implement their tactical gear and test them in high-pressure scenarios before an emergency strikes. The University lights up a growing tradition

A&M-San Antonio kicked off the holiday season with a festive lighting ceremony, Lights of Esperanza, a growing tradition that brings the Jaguar community together as 20,000+ LED lights illuminate the University in celebration of the joyous time of year. Dr. Ferrier rang in the festivities with help from Santa Claus and choral group University Voices, who invited guests to join in a caroling medley of seasonal tunes.
