Testing Center - WebCAPE Spanish Placement
Texas A&M University-San Antonio offers Spanish language placement exams for current students who would like to enroll into any level Spanish course and as a proficiency exam for College of Education Bilingual Education students. This exam is used for placement and proficiency purposes only and does not give credit for foreign language classes. Students already proficient in Spanish can consider taking the CLEP test to get college credit.
Format of Exam
This exam is a computer-based and contains multiple-choice questions.
Time Limit
There is no time limit, but the average amount of time necessary to complete the test is about 30 minutes.
ID Requirements
A valid government-issued ID.
Scheduling
The WebCAPE Spanish Placement exam is currently offered as a Walk-in exam. The Testing Center offers walk-in hours for WebCAPE Mon-Friday starting at 10 am and up to 1 hour before we close. Walk-in hours are available certain Saturdays starting at 9 am. Walk-ins are accepted on a first-come first-serve basis, as space becomes available. There is currently no cost for this exam.

These are recommended placements. The best placement depends on the student's strength developed in previous course work, enjoyment of Spanish, and whether or not they have been exposed to the language and culture in other ways, such as travel.
